Day 97 After the failed Hunger Strike, some went to SHU, the rest on Lockdown. The only information we had was from inmatedotcom, but we did knew we were screwed.

Journal Entry:

"Up around 6 am, H/L Drink, layed back down. Lots of rumors and hints about what is going to happen. Had a good conversation with R.B. last night about prison life. I learn a little more everyday. Looks like a beautiful day outside. I wonder if we’ll see any of it. Answer: Nope, only movement will be to meals.

Wrote in the common area for awhile but they were cleaning it from the high tension search earlier this week-end. Sigh. No real information just alot of noise on 'inmatedotcom,' which is what E. calls the prison rumor mill.

LUNCH: First real meal for me in 2 days. I don’t know if was good or I was just starved. Shredded ck (lightly seasoned, I think) (some in reserve). Taco shell, ate 1, 1 for the outside prisoners (wildlife). Veggies ate all, salsa (ate none), Orange (3 in reserve).

Pretty good lunch either way, I do like eating less. Gonna cut back, less carbs. Wrote on Null, gonna do up to the Dracula scene, then start 'Blood on the Sun'. I’m gonna finish it, but it will be the basic story, almost an outline, then research the 1920s, Ancient Egypt, the King Tut Tours, etc etc. But in here I’ll just get the jist of it down. May or may not be in the stories I wrote in Prison Book.

Town meeting: we’re losing or will remain lost everything till Fri, minimally. Sigh. I gotta get the fuck out of here. Something gotta happen soon. Prepare to ship everything ASAP. Be Ready, could have to move fast.

SUPPER: Pork loin w/ BBQ Sauce (ate most), Roll (in reserve), beans ate very few, chard greens (ate all).

Wasn’t bad, forgot I was out of PB, will make a hot ck sandwich instead. Worked more on Null, and read BDN. Interesting article about a 3 Judge Panel overturning (Judge, my judge, in fact) Woodcock’s decision on the accident in Acadia Park, hmmm…"

Notes for Day 97 (Four Years Later)

  • The Calm After the Storm: Day 97 was the quiet, uncertain aftermath of the "Hunger Shake". We were all waiting to see what the fallout would be—specifically, what "lame charges" like inciting a riot they would hit T.T. with.

  • The Cost of Activism: The most tragic part for T.T. was that he had just been accepted into the Service Dog Training class. In that program, you can’t have any infractions, so one act of defiance cost him the puppies. I know he was really into it, and it was a tough loss for him to take.

  • The Hoarding Instinct: Even though the strike ended, my notes about keeping "oranges in reserve" show the lingering survival mentality. When you've just been through a shakedown where they take everything, you don't trust the supply line anymore.

  • The Judge Woodcock Connection: Seeing that article in the Bangor Daily News about Judge Woodcock being overturned by a 3-judge panel was a moment of intense focus for me. It reinforced the "burning unease" I had about my own case; seeing that the man who sentenced me could be wrong on the law gave me a flicker of hope for my own appeals.

  • Transitioning to PJ 3: We are just 4 days away from finishing this notebook and hitting the 100-day mark. Changing the cover for Prison Journal 3 feels like a fresh start, but the pressure to "get the fuck out" is becoming a constant internal hum.
