Day 82: Fueled by dreams, I plunged into my work, advancing three projects at once: Walking Distance, Barbell, and the new Book Vs. Movie concept.

Journal Entry:

“Up at 6:30. Lots of dreaming, though the only thing I remember is being in a store and wondering if I was buying too many comic books. Weird dream to be having at 54 years old. Feeling pretty good. Day off from the kitchen, going to try to get a lot done today.

Journal, Barbell, typing up Walking Distance, maybe some legal research. Talked to Mom.

BRUNCH: Two Hard boiled eggs (one reserve). French toast, three-day-or-older tater tots, orange.

Worked a little more on Barbell, typed up more on Walking Distance, then started another new storyline on Null, because that and OJ are easy and fun to create. I’m blocked on Barbell, probably taking it too seriously. Read a lot on Frankenstein 2, almost done. Great book series. I’d love to do a streaming series with this property. HUGE potential.

I helped J.K. with the Plastic Ware/Napkin Project.

SUPPER: Mostly gross. Didn’t eat much.

Talked to MyT on the phone. It was good to talk to her but I got all sweaty for some reason. Weird. Went outside till 7 PM, mostly read book. Tomorrow’s another day.

‘You’re in my Seat’ – Red 2, Superbad. Watched neither, wasn’t into it. More into my book.”

Notes for Day 82 (Four Years Later)

A standard entry, filled mostly with dreams, writing, and reading. Just like my writing productivity increased while incarcerated, so did my reading. I tried to consume every book I could, and all kinds of genres that I never would have read on the outside. Because you never know where a good story is going to be buried, for lack of a better description. And honestly, once I experienced the SHU (where your reading choices are greatly reduced), and before this Prison Journal ends, I will experience the SHU two more glorious times. That great appreciation for “something to read or occupy your mind” is definitely drilled in my head.

This is the first time I had the concept for a Reviewing platform, which is simply described as Book Vs. Movie. Mainly because I was reading way more books, and also I was constantly trying to come up with business/creative ideas that I could pursue in prison and then really develop when released. I think it’s a good idea, probably already been done. Maybe someday I’ll tackle it again.

I know some people have the same opinion of most books that become movies: “It wasn’t as good as the book!” This project might be a really fun way to dig deep into that general assumption, kind of like how “everyone knows copying movies is illegal.”
