Sixty days in came and went without incident. My goal for early release is now renewed, but little did I know about the behind-the-scenes opposition still brewing against me.

Journal Entry:

“Up at 4:47 AM. HLR Drink + Meds. Back to sleep. Got bits and pieces of a dream. All I got was I was traveling around like in some coastal area. There were a lot of beaches, and water coming right up to the roads. It was a way more complicated story, but it has all disappeared into a misty, foggy area between the dream and this world. I woke back up and decided to go to breakfast. First time in a while.

BREAKFAST: Oatmeal (ate some), Cinnamon Roll (ate some).

On the way back, I heard the CO tell M.B. he wasn’t supposed to take apples out of the dining hall. Something’s brewing. But I have to get my head out of it. Mostly, I may still use some stuff for creative writing purposes. I sent the damn appeal to M.D.O.L. Hopefully, that will be the end of it, but I have a feeling it may not be. Apparently, an inmate they call Angel got caught with a cell phone last night. I missed the whole thing. I guess they will ship him out to somewhere else, like Danbury. Worked on this Journal and Outer Justice. Worked my semi-solo shift, with medium success. Went outside and hung out.

BRUNCH: Scrambled Eggs, potato puffs, wrap. Got out of there without smuggling anymore food.

Read S.K. and then off to the 3 to 4 shift.

SUPPER: Tuna, soup, lettuce, bread. Ate very little. I may make something later. Not feeling really great.

Unsure of the movie, may give it a try at 6 PM. Not much else to do but write; however, my mind is not sharp right now. We’ll see. The opposite side hernia thing is really throbbing today. Not really digging that. Went down to the dining room for the movie. They were already watching it: ‘You’re in my Seat’ – Divergent. I think I already saw it at the Theater with H. back in the Old World.”

Notes for Day 60 (Four Years Later)

Kind of a bland, boring day in the stripy Hole. Obviously, my big chicken bust yesterday was still bothering me. It seems kind of lame now, but really, I was just mad at myself for breaking the rules over something so minor: For Inmate Consumption Only food. Eventually, like I already said, I got over it and moved on.

The M.D.O.L. thing was a letter I got saying I was illegally paid unemployment during COVID. I appealed it and said I had submitted all the paperwork and gave them a copy of the paperwork. The whole thing smelled like another attempt by the Prosecution to jam me up further. But surprisingly, the Maine Department of Labor accepted my appeal and basically said, “Oops, our bad.” I wish my federal criminal case would have gone the same way. Of course, it still may; I’ve got a few more appeals in me.
