Journal Entry:
“Was awake by 5:47 AM, felt like I got sleep, but I remember being awake at 1 AM. Got up, took my morning med, HLR drink, and the lights popped on. WTH, it’s Saturday! Most weekends the lights stay off till noon. I went to the common area and started on this Journal. A C.O. came in (the locked light control switch was in the common area) and shut the lights back off. Either somebody f*cked up or just an a**hole. Hard to tell in this place. I cemented another story/book idea.
IDEA: ‘Camp.’ A collection of stories or vignettes that take place in a federal prison camp, especially if I’m here for the full duration. I won’t start anything until I leave and have the freedom to be honest and really create without reprisals if found. I’ll just use this journal to refer to things that happen here and other stories from other camps. Example = CubiCells.
Even though I thought this place was a re-purposed warehouse or storage building, it was, according to other inmates, actually built for this purpose. When the camp was first created, it was made up of trailers, linked together somehow. *Research this.
Skipping breakfast. After it’s cleared out some, I may go down in a bit and get some Iced Coffee. My first solo kitchen shift, though I bet J.K. shows up. I think I’ll wear the whites today to see if they are more comfortable and lighter. Tired again, thinking of crashing back out; maybe I’ll dream, that would be cool. Slept a little, no dreams. I got some ice coffee and went back to the common area, read my S.K. book. Last night, I finished Trejo, and towards the end of the book, he referred to the SHU Gladiator Games in some prison. But didn’t explain what the term SHU stood for or what it is. That was cool that I knew what SHU is. Up until two months ago, I didn’t. Would most people? Maybe I’m just dense.
Worked on Outer Justice; then I’ll work on Walking Distance later.
BRUNCH: Scrambled eggs, pancakes, potato wedges—a typical brunch weekend menu. Wasn’t bad. Put the Orange in reserve. Two of them. Banner day.
My first solo day went off without a hitch. Sort of solo. J.K. showed up at the end and helped put the plastic ware/napkin combos together. In other news, R.B. offered to cut my hair today, so I took him up on it. Still hot outside, but I may go out at 5:30; we’ll see. Back reading Just After Sunset by S.K. Story: Rest Stop—it’s pretty good so far. I’ll pick a favorite when I finish the book. Seven days till sixty days in. *If the federal Grand Juries started again in Maine in July or before, how much of a backlog do they have? That has to be a sticking point; it has to be. And is the statute of limitations close on anything that might play into it? Hard to say not knowing. What a waste of time and resources.
**Got to practice writing 300 words a day. I’m going to start expanding my journal: more on the food here, on the people, on the camp & prison itself. Plus, ideas and a regular writing fiction project. The ultimate goal when I leave here is to do 900 words a day. Journal + Fiction project. That’s a f*ckload of writing. Then jam up PDFU with three reviews/pages everyday, reset the SEO/Marketing. Revamp each page. I should have 400 vibrant pages in six or eight months. Then hire an SEO company and/or marketing to tweak the site. If it drives revenue like I think it might, then do the same with WIT-Maine, and hit the road. Then do WIT-NH/WIT-VT (and buy all fifty states).
Somehow didn’t record the SUPPER menu. Oh, well.”
Notes for Day 53 (Four Years Later)
A long entry, but most of it was a rundown of the standard, boring day of someone incarcerated in the USA.
Here are a couple of things I starred in the entry:
*I talked some about the grand juries in Maine because I have said from the beginning that this copyright case was just a pretextual prosecution for a much larger case. I have mentioned what I know in other entries, but as I am still investigating this situation and may file other motions, I will refrain from discussing it in depth here. Except to say, I am still discovering new evidence that proves my theory. Stay tuned!
** This whole bit was like a long stream of consciousness of my writing habits and post-prison plans. Since I have yet to relaunch PDFU or WIT-Maine, I am also going to refrain from discussing these two projects. They are in limbo but will return at some point in the future, maybe under a different name or branding. I am still struggling with my writing output, but hope to use this "Prison Journal: 4 Years Later" to get me in better creative flow. Thanks for reading!
