Journal Entry: .
“Slept medium. The LHR drink is helping me with the hunger thing. I might start two drinks a day if I can build up my stock enough.
BREAKFAST: Oatmeal, apple bun(?), apple. Ate most of it, put the apple in reserve. I’ve come to a decision in regard to this place and my case. I’m going to seek a little advice, probably, if I get a chance. I’m a little on the fence, but this waiting is killing me. Only Day 40, and it seems like months. Went outside and hung out; no laps, maybe tonight. Finished The Factory, started Koontz’s Frankenstein. His intro is unclear. Now I’m wondering if the TV Movie ever got made.
Actually got an email from T. today. She got a car. That’s cool. That’s actually a load off my mind. I was worried about that. But I can’t do anything about it (or anything else) from here. The whole Old World vs. This World thing.
SUPPER: Chicken Chunks, baked potato, roll, cabbage coleslaw style. It was pretty good, and I held back a whole chicken sandwich for bedtime. Cool. It’s the little things when you’re doing time.
Going to try laps later (update: no laps, leg too sore, will shoot for tomorrow). Didn’t even hang outside, too tired. Sooo… on the first/second day at Camp, someone gave me some advice: sometimes you may see things in the bathroom that you didn’t see. That happened tonight, when I went to take a shower. I saw something I didn’t see. Everything is cool, and I was grateful for the advice. ‘Nough Said.”
Notes for Day 40 (Four Years Later)
A pretty standard day. The few things that stand out: I’m pretty sure the decision about place/case is me mulling over what would become my first Compassionate Release (CR) motion. I thought about it and researched as much as I could before I started working on it. There were already people there working on their own CRs. The COVID situation made this legal ‘get out of jail card’ really explode in 2021. I loved researching it and studying different strategies on this issue, not only for myself but for many others whom I felt didn’t belong there.
Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein. I am a huge fan of the writer and the classic story, so when I discovered this book in the library, I quickly scoffed it up. It was frustrating reading the intro, where Koontz explained the book started as a TV movie project but there were complications. In the outside world, I could have quickly found more information about the status of the movie, but inside, no dice. I guess it added to the mystery of the book, but it was still very frustrating adapting to ‘This World.’
‘Things you don’t see.’ That covers a number of activities that do happen in the bathroom at all hours of the day, but mostly at night. While I don’t remember what this incident was, because I “didn’t see” so many, my strategy evolved into this: spend as little time as possible in the bathroom and, unless it's an emergency, DON’T GO IN AFTER MIDNIGHT. I think that might be solid advice for all club feds across the country.
