Another typical day on "Forced Vacation," filled with standard routines. Oh, and I hatched an AI idea back when AI wasn't even cool yet!

Actual Journal Entry:

“Slept pretty good, probably the longest time since getting to the camp, from 11 PM to 5:30 AM.

BREAKFAST: Ate it again—some cereal, some cake. Took an apple. Looks like a hot day; I may walk early.

LUNCH: Was mostly nasty: tuna, onion soup, mac/onion, water with onion ice cubes. Okay, that last one was made up, but it seems like they put onions on everything. They love their onions at the camp. Onions must be cheap. I picked at it, saved the roll and orange for later.

Read some If It Bleeds…, worked on the journal and Walking Distance. Trying to think of three obstacles for my character to overcome to be able to see Laney. I wish I could get my email; it may be soon. Going to walk, maybe do some push-ups.

SUPPER: Chili, ate some, creamed corn (an old SHU favorite), white rice. Saved bread for tonight.

I did write a letter to RF and may do laps if it’s not too hot. My routine is pretty much set now; I just need to fill it up more. Not doing as much writing here as in the SHU. Don’t like that. How can I change it? There’s no safe place for me to write. Too many people. (And this place is like at half capacity; imagine what it’s going to be like when the courts start jamming and the trials start again.) I wish we could go outside more. Be thankful for what we have, I guess. I’ve got to read the menus more and take the alternates more often, not just for the Fish.

PDFU/WIT IDEA: Find or create (with some programming help) some software that can auto-fill pages to reach 400 fast. By searching the Wayback Machine (API) and finding old text (not currently on the Internet or searchable) of certain keywords (like Wasp Woman 1950s or Devins in Belfast), then copying that text and rewriting it (even slightly) to make 300 words per page—but fast. Photos and hard-to-find info may have to be done personally. Not sure. Hmm, has potential. WIT.nh might be a good test one. Start with a killer front page (couple solid reviews).

Finished one story in If It Bleeds… Kind of a ghost story with iPhones at the center. It was pretty good. I generally like S. King’s shorts better than his longer ones. He tends to have a lot of filler in the bigger books, in my opinion. Went outside at 4:30 PM, didn’t walk; leg hurt, and it was too hot. Came in at 7:00 PM; went to bed at 10 PM.”

Notes for Day 34 (Four Years Later)

Reading this entry now, I’m wondering if I’d lapsed on my Wellbutrin at this point. It seemed like the whole day was a feedback loop full of complaints, or basically, a lot of b*tching and whining.

The PDFU/WIT Idea was interesting. This was, of course, 2021, well before AI mania took off mainstream. A lot of what I mentioned there could be accomplished with AI today. Something to think about. I always believed that ‘scraping’ other sites was quite ethical, but as the current cases of rightsholders versus AI companies over copyrights show, it might be illegal. Only time will tell; funny how things change very quickly.
