Actual Entry - 10/28/21 - THUR. -
Slept medium, up around 7:30, we may or may not have dog training today. Find out I guess, apparently we did... kinda. Ms. LaVasse (the one who was supposed to bring a working type-writer), did not show. So we just hung out in the dog training Room/Slash Big TV room. I guess the puppies (Webster, Topper) aren't leaving till NEXT Thursday. One more week of potential training.
LUNCH: Bone-in CK, Bread (which I gave to J.K.), Sweet potato wedges,
Tired and sluggish, can't focus on anything. No plasticware still. Not even commissary can liven me up., I want to get writing, but lack direction and motivation and focus.
Discipline.
Tho writing on my bunk should be much easier with the natural window. But if I keep batteries stocked up I should be fine.
SUPPER: CK Fahjittis (sp), a little ck in the newly formed dog fund, and reserve. Meals are a little more messy but not bad.

Four Years Later -
Kind of a bland day. I was still struggling to get into a solid writing routine, but since I had just moved into Dog Row, that would be happening soon. I actually wrote most of Barbell in that CubiCell. That luxurious cell—right on the corner, with an emergency exit right next to me, low inmate traffic, and a window—provided the most comfortable, safest time I had during my incarceration.
Dog Class was off to a rocky start. It was still the height of COVID, so it was meandering along with no real direction or leadership. But that would change soon as well, when we got a regular outside instructor and a fresh batch of puppies. It was really kind of strange; before I got there, the Dog Program had been limping along, and the Community Outreach program (which we will get to soon) was non-existent.
The Dog Program came alive during my time there, and I was (just barely) accepted into the Outreach program. Both programs were the absolute highlights of my time at Devens. After I was transferred to Lewisburg at the beginning of 2023, both programs were canceled, and most of the kitchen crew spent months in the SHU. Timing, even in prison, is everything.
